For People with Diabetes was established by Peta Tauchmann, a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Registered Nurse based in Brisbane.
Peta has been a diabetes educator since 1998, when she discovered her passion for helping people living with diabetes. In 2003 Peta realised that services outside the hospital sector were needed. She identified a need for clinics located close to local medical services and in the suburbs where parking is free and access is flexible.
Our clinics are open to those aged over 13 with type 1 or 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes or pre diabetes. We believe that a person with diabetes should be offered every opportunity to live a full life - with a side of diabetes. Not the other way around!
The diabetes educators at 4PWD are accredited with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association, have post graduate qualifications in diabetes education, and are skilled in all aspects of diabetes self management. We have worked in varied environments, including hospital, general practice, community health and are affiliated with Brisbane's leading Endocrinologists.
